CONTEST ADVICE FOR SCREENPLAY WRITERS
by Lynne Pembroke
Category: General http://www.wordpreneur.com/general

There are many screenplay contests available to the
aspiring screenwriter. These contests can be a good avenue
to getting one's work noticed and/or make a sale. So, it's
important to make certain that you have written your
screenplay to the best of your ability and according to
industry standards.

The most important thing to do for any aspiring
screenwriter is to first learn the basic techniques of
screenwriting before sitting down to write one. I come
across many hopeful writers who think that all it takes to
write a script is a good story idea and a lot of explosive
special effects. While a good story is important, with or
without the special effects, writing that story using
proper industry standards is equally important. (Visit
"Tips for Screenwriters" for further information.)

There are specific techniques to the craft of screenwriting
involving everything from act structure to proper
screenplay format, which must be followed. It's difficult
to write engaging characters, focused plots and
entertaining screenplays without having a solid framework
in which to bring it all to life.

MISSION POSSIBLE: GET PUBLISHED WITH GOALS, GUIDANCE AND
PERSISTENCE
by Stephen Earley Jordan, II

Category: Motivation http://www.wordpreneur.com/motivation

You send me an email. You tell me you’ve written over 300
poems since you were 16 (in your teenage angst stage). You
mention the novel you’ve completed and it’s really good (it
really is!!!), and the novel-in-progress. You mention how
the International Library of Poetry has published one of
your poems. (But, who haven’t they published?)

However, all your work is stored away, hidden from the
public eye on a black little disk.

You have one mission: Getting published.

"How do I get published?" you finally question at the end
of the email.

At times, I ask myself the same question.

Is this mission impossible? To many, it seems that way. If
you stick with me, I’ll make the publishing process
slightly simpler.

DEFY THE MYTHS, GET YOUR BOOK WRITTEN - FAST! (PART 2)
by Judy Cullins
Category: The Job http://www.wordpreneur.com/thejob

Getting Your Book Written - Six Myths and Options (cont.)

4. Takes writing ability.

If you can talk you can write. Readers want books written
by a wise and savvy friend who will guide them gracefully
to success. They want passion and natural writing more than
perfect syntax.

After you write your book, you can get it edited by a
professional, or if you want to save time and money, edit
it as you go by using proper headings that state your
audience's problem he wants solved, and following that with
a concise answer. A book coach can help you with this.
