AN EBOOK PUBLISHER'S DILEMMA: SHOULD I USE PDF OR EXE
by Michael Southon
Category: eBooks
If you write and publish eBooks, sooner or later you will
probably be faced with a dilemma -- should you create your
eBooks as .exe files or .pdf files?
PDF, which stands for Portable Document Format, is the file
extension for files created with Adobe Acrobat.
EXE, which stands for 'executable', is the extension for
 files created by eBook compilers.

GET AN ATTITUDE ABOUT YOUR WRITING
by Angela Booth
Category: General
Writer John Clausen, in his excellent book about freelance
writing, "Too Lazy To Work, Too Nervous To Steal,"
recommends that you get an attitude about your work. And
 he's right.
Many writers are submissive. This attitude brings out the
worst in others. It leads to people in a position to pay
you for your work taking massive advantage of you, because
they figure that you're not going to do anything about it.
Heck, it leads to business people -- editors, publishers
and anyone who hires writers -- taking advantage of writers
in general. So, while you're standing up for yourself, tell
yourself that you're standing up for writers everywhere.
 Because you are.

WRITING FOR THE GAMING INDUSTRY
by Melissa K. Brewer
Category: Markets
Several months ago, I worked on an interesting project for
a client looking to break into writing music for the video
game industry. As the project progressed, I found myself
fascinated with the art of interactive entertainment, and
began to take "side notes" on what it takes to write for
the gaming industry. I made a host of wonderful contacts
and learned a great deal about how tough -- and rewarding
-- it can be to become a part of the development of some of
the most mainstream and high-tech forms of entertainment
today. (One out of every three American households has a
video game system and the fastest growing market for video
games is in Europe.) There are also many opportunities for
freelancers to "break in" to the gaming industry through
offline and "lower-tech" mediums.
