Just an FYI post of a few articles on the e-Factory blog that you may find helpful and informative:
Blogging for a Living — “Blogging is a cheap and simple way to make money on the Internet. But, you have to know what you are doing or you’ll make very little money, or worse, you won’t make any money at all. If you’re like most people, you want to start making money and profits as soon as you can.” More »

I was chatting with a pal who happens to be an editor (lots of those in the DC area) who was thinking of starting his own site providing information on vintage cars, his reason for living (outside of his wife, kids, and 9-to-5 of course).
I pointed him to The Editor’s Introductory Guide to Blogging Profits, an easy, cheap and potentially lucrative way to get him started and going, I thought. Strangely enough, it intimidated him. “Seems like hard work,” he said.

In A Few Top Google SEO Techniques, I mentioned a WordPress technique that tells it to automatically generate a post URL that includes some form of the post’s title, much like it does for this site (look up at the address bar!). Good for SEO, apparently.
Here’s how to do it:

If you’re anything like me, you probably have a number of different “online projects” going on simulaneously in various stages of development. All likely already have domain names, but since there really are only so many projects you can work on at any given point in time, I bet a number (most?) of those domains essentially are in “limbo.” Meaning, they realistically go nowhere until your project gets underway.

Sorry for the slight delay getting this edition out folks… spent the last couple of days writing — the type that gets me pretty much oblivious to everything going on around me — but fortunately I snapped out of it enough this morning to finish and get this installment out. Enjoy!
By the way, I’m wondering: Would you prefer that I release these carnival issues on Sundays instead of their regular Saturdays? The benefit from the change would mainly be for the subscribers of the email feed, who’ll then get their email notifications on Monday instead of Sunday. Thoughts?

Picking up where we left off in Blog “Income” From Donations can be Substantial, here’s a dirt-easy (and free) solution for you WordPress users: Go get the Buy Me a Beer PayPal Donation plugin like I did.
In a nutshell, it lets your WordPress blog’s visitors send you monetary donations via PayPal. The plugin automates the whole process enough to make it as much a no-brainer as possible.

Just got wind of the following useful resource: a free 10-part online video series on WordPress, covering everything from setup to slightly more advanced topics like using themes and plugins.
Nifty (pretty good, actually), particularly for those of you who want step-by-step visuals and narratives to get you going. And you can’t beat the cost. The course is produced and provided by the 10 Minute Expert site.

As a working example, let’s actually try to modify a WordPress theme a bit and see if we can tweak it to look more to our satisfaction.
If you’ll remember, my favorite WordPress theme is Kubrick, but its justified bodies of text is not to my liking. So, let’s change that and make those bodies left-justified.

If you’re looking for actual technical info and specs, this isn’t the article to read, since it will soon become painfully clear that I — the guy who got a college degree on this very thing and who actually spent a number of years getting paid designing and programming some pretty complex software — know practically diddly-squat about most of what passes for computer programming nowadays.

Among a whole bunch of benefits of using WordPress as a blogging platform, not least of which is that the base software itself is totally free, one of the majors is the huge collection of design “themes” available, making it very easy for the non-designing blogger to fancy the visuals up (not to mention change it at will) with just a few clicks of the mouse. And these themes are, again, for the most part free, created and provided by the huge comunity of WordPress users out there.
