Another pretty good article to help you sell your newsletter writing and production services. Now, I don’t mean you should print out and show them the article — it’s only fair that if you do that, you include the author’s bio, which kind of defeats the purpose. Instead, use it to help you generate ideas for your own pitches and proposals to prospects. — EES

According to the Harvard Business Review, 91% of small businesses do absolutely nothing to retain their existing clients. That means only 9% of small business owners ‘get’ these facts:
- The average American business loses 50% of its customer base every 5 years.
- An existing customer spends an average of 67% more than new customers.
- It costs 7 to 9 times more to acquire a new customer than it does to retain an old one.

Despite the title, this really is a generic (and somewhat interesting) business marketing piece, not at all ebook-specific. — EES

The inspiration for creative writing is one that should not be restricted. Inspiration comes in many forms and at many different times. When it does, you need to be ready to sit down and jot down your thoughts.
Half the battle with creative writing is finding those moments of inspiration. This is true whether you are writing a novel, a short story or poetry. You can set aside an hour or two to write every day and your muse may cooperate during those periods, but then again, may not. Just because inspiration comes outside of that defined period of time does not mean you shouldn’t be ready to capture the moment.

Thought-provoking article for you ebook publishers. Very traditional magazine-like business model. There is, however, a bit of a problem with what’s being suggested in this article. I’ll tell you what it is at the end of the piece, along with my ideas on how it could be “fixed.” In fact, you probably won’t want to miss the very last “fix” idea I describe. — EES

Lots being said and written about creating blogs to generate affiliate income. But from what I’ve seen it’s actually a somewhat rare experience to come across aff merchants (not affiliates) who use the tech and medium, let alone use them to their advantage.

Three reasons why I decided to post this article:
- For our interests, it’s actually quite informative, despite it being undoubtedly a promo piece for the design company.
- The work described is fairly straightforward and simple… meaning, who said you can’t take this idea and run with it, offering the same kind of service in your neck of the woods?
- This is a good example of informative PR, something that stands a much better chance of actually getting noticed and printed than the usual “company news” press release, which often can usually be best described as “stuff no one else but the company really gives a hoot about.” You can write this sort of thing, can’t you? Of course you can… and for clients. For pay.
