Here’s an interesting Washington Post article on a Cornell University study on a “pricing trick” that seems to work. The study’s specific to the home real estate market, but it most likely has psychological implications for how we price what we sell (what doesn’t?).

Advertising Age Search Marketing Fact Pack 2007 [AdAge PDF]
The who, what, when, where of search, and how. Some interesting data: 88.5% of the time people don’t pay attention to PPC adverts, making clickthrough rate just 11.5% overall. Small? Not when you consider that there are 2,500 searches performed per second in the US. Get more interesting search marketing-related figures from the PDF.

New Security Rules for Batteries on Planes [CNET]
New rules from the Transportation and Security Administration that take effect this year ban travelers from carrying loose lithium batteries in checked baggage. Passengers are allowed to pack two spare batteries in their carry-on bag, as long as they’re in clear plastic baggies.

The Big Changes in Wedding and Environmental Magazines [AdAge]
Surprisingly, the fastest growing segment of the print magazine market from 2002-2007 was wedding magazines. Even more surprising, despite growing attention and interest, the environmental magazine segment has experienced one of the industry’s steepest declines. Go figure.
