Winter’s Here!Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? Or mailing out your cards? I haven’t, and this is the last good weekend to do that. Next weekend is for bringing out the popcorn and sitting back to watch, laugh and point at the nimrods who waited too long.

The shopping part I easily handle through the gang at Amazon — I just let them deal with the logistics and hassle of getting the gifts into the recipients’ hands (and for those gifts I deliver myself, it’s the last weekend to take advantage of free Super Saver shipping). The greeting cards are a different story… getting those done and out is still roll up your sleeves work. Oh well.

Things are getting more interestingly hectic as C-day fast approaches. This has literally been the first chance I’ve had in days to sit down and write anything… and it’s not even all that much writing at that!

Sorry for the slight delay getting this edition out folks… spent the last couple of days writing — the type that gets me pretty much oblivious to everything going on around me — but fortunately I snapped out of it enough this morning to finish and get this installment out. Enjoy!

By the way, I’m wondering: Would you prefer that I release these carnival issues on Sundays instead of their regular Saturdays? The benefit from the change would mainly be for the subscribers of the email feed, who’ll then get their email notifications on Monday instead of Sunday. Thoughts?

Wordpreneur Carnival #007

Saturday, November 24th, 2007 |

Welcome to another edition of the Wordpreneur Carnival. It’s coming out a little bit later today than usual — sorry about that; needed the space in my fridge, so was just trying to polish off the leftover turkey this morning. Barely made a dent. But what little I managed to put away before grudgingly getting back to work… mmmmm.

FRIENDLY TIP FOR ONLINE WRITERS: If you have only a few points to make, try not to write a whole book to make them. An unusually high number of submissions this week fall within the well-written-but-just-too-effing-long category.

Before we begin, for those of you who’ve been wondering: No, I do not run all the carnival submissions I receive. In fact, I run very few of them. Most are articles and posts I find myself.

OK, that makes four, or about a month of these Carnival issues, and traffic numbers (interest) seem high enough, even for these usually sickly low Saturdays. So, let’s keep going then, shall we?

Busy day (leak in the @#$@#^& basement). So let’s get right to work…

You’re trying to make money with a blog that sucks? More power (and luck) to you. But if you’ve come to the conclusion that not sucking is more likely the path of least resistance towards blog monetization nirvana, Inkthinker Kristen King’s It’s Not You, It’s Me(me): 9 Tips for Making Your Blog Suck is an excellent place to start.

Thanks everyone for your submissions to this week’s Carnival. Can’t use all of them since some really just don’t fit into our little slice of the blogosphere.

And an interesting number were little more than “look at this” posts that link elsewhere for the real meat. I’ll link directly to the meat in this Carnival. Although if I didn’t know it existed before and it was your submission that brought it to my attention, I’ll give you and your blog credit.
