Wordpreneur Carnival #010

Sunday, December 16th, 2007 |

Winter’s Here!Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? Or mailing out your cards? I haven’t, and this is the last good weekend to do that. Next weekend is for bringing out the popcorn and sitting back to watch, laugh and point at the nimrods who waited too long.

The shopping part I easily handle through the gang at Amazon — I just let them deal with the logistics and hassle of getting the gifts into the recipients’ hands (and for those gifts I deliver myself, it’s the last weekend to take advantage of free Super Saver shipping). The greeting cards are a different story… getting those done and out is still roll up your sleeves work. Oh well.

Wordpreneur Carnival #007

Saturday, November 24th, 2007 |

Welcome to another edition of the Wordpreneur Carnival. It’s coming out a little bit later today than usual — sorry about that; needed the space in my fridge, so was just trying to polish off the leftover turkey this morning. Barely made a dent. But what little I managed to put away before grudgingly getting back to work… mmmmm.

Compile Your Back Posts Into an Infoproduct

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 |

Since I know (or have a feeling) that we are all aware of this infoproduct idea, consider this a “reminder.” I like to remind myself periodically of possibilities as, over time, I inevitably get distracted by many other things, and a reminder can’t possibly hurt. I figure you may like to get reminded as well.

The simple idea: Get your blog back posts and compile them into an infoproduct (ebook).

Blog “Income” From Donations can be Substantial

Thursday, November 15th, 2007 |

I left donations out from The Editor’s Guide to Blogging Profit – Monetizing It until I could come up with some real world examples and/or tried and implemented it myself. Thankfully, fellow wordpreneur “Kathleen” has just provided us with that information in a comment.

And her numbers aren’t small.

Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007

Thursday, November 8th, 2007 |

Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007If you’re looking for basic accounting software for your freelance writing business, the latest version of Microsoft Office Accounting Express may fit the bill if you’re a Windows user.

I’ve never used it — I’ve been an Intuit Quickbooks user for years, since its very first MS-DOS version (MS-DOS, hehe, now that brings back memories) — so can’t really tell you if it’s good or bad.

The Editor’s Introductory Guide to Blogging Profit – Monetizing It (Part 2)

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 |

Blogging ProfitYesterday, we took a look at a few of the very basic ways blog publishers can monetize their sites. I left out techniques specific to writing new posts since, if you remember from the start (and the title should be a clue), this is all about trying to generate income from editing and publishing other people’s stuff.

Yes, boys and girls, AdSense, affiliate programs and other revenue models that revolve around “advertising” can indeed pay off. But advertising isn’t the only possible way to monetize this project.

The Editor’s Introductory Guide to Blogging Profit – Monetizing It (Part 1)

Monday, November 5th, 2007 |

The Editor's Introductory Guide to Blogging ProfitIn the first installment of this guide (which has proven to be Wordpreneur’s most popular post to date), we pretty much just went through the basic start-up and operations formula for editors — not necessarily writers — to get into the online publishing game on a blog platform.

As promised, now we get into the good old “how to bring money in” part of it.
