Just got wind of the following useful resource: a free 10-part online video series on WordPress, covering everything from setup to slightly more advanced topics like using themes and plugins.
Nifty (pretty good, actually), particularly for those of you who want step-by-step visuals and narratives to get you going. And you can’t beat the cost. The course is produced and provided by the 10 Minute Expert site.

I left donations out from The Editor’s Guide to Blogging Profit – Monetizing It until I could come up with some real world examples and/or tried and implemented it myself. Thankfully, fellow wordpreneur “Kathleen” has just provided us with that information in a comment.
And her numbers aren’t small.

Among a whole bunch of benefits of using WordPress as a blogging platform, not least of which is that the base software itself is totally free, one of the majors is the huge collection of design “themes” available, making it very easy for the non-designing blogger to fancy the visuals up (not to mention change it at will) with just a few clicks of the mouse. And these themes are, again, for the most part free, created and provided by the huge comunity of WordPress users out there.

Before we begin, for those of you who’ve been wondering: No, I do not run all the carnival submissions I receive. In fact, I run very few of them. Most are articles and posts I find myself.

Stupid me — what with all the powerful features WordPress provides that I don’t even know of let alone use, I thought this functionality was already built-in. Apparently not.
Why not, WordPress? That it’s missing from WordPress’s basic set of features is surprising considering how critically important it is, I feel, for us to have interactive sites. This does nothing if not help tremendously in that respect.

Yesterday, we took a look at a few of the very basic ways blog publishers can monetize their sites. I left out techniques specific to writing new posts since, if you remember from the start (and the title should be a clue), this is all about trying to generate income from editing and publishing other people’s stuff.
Yes, boys and girls, AdSense, affiliate programs and other revenue models that revolve around “advertising” can indeed pay off. But advertising isn’t the only possible way to monetize this project.

In the first installment of this guide (which has proven to be Wordpreneur’s most popular post to date), we pretty much just went through the basic start-up and operations formula for editors — not necessarily writers — to get into the online publishing game on a blog platform.
As promised, now we get into the good old “how to bring money in” part of it.

A “blog,” as you all know, stands for Web log, At its core and most basic, a diary, in case anyone’s asking. But just like everything else in this world, it’s morphed into something else that people need, in this case a very powerful but yet relatively easy to implement — but more importantly, easy to comprehend — online publishing solution.
Which means that never before has it been easier (and I do mean that quite sincerely) for editors to get into publishing online without doing much in the way of creating new content. Through the use of all this new-ish blogging tech and other resources available today, in other words, it’s now relatively simple for a solitary editor to become a productive (and profitable) publisher.

I just spent the better part of the day changing the site’s “theme” design, which took far more time than I thought it would. Which means I couldn’t get around to writing the stuff I was planning on writing today. Sorry about that.
But let’s see if we can salvage something “educational” from today’s experience.

Busy day (leak in the @#$@#^& basement). So let’s get right to work…
You’re trying to make money with a blog that sucks? More power (and luck) to you. But if you’ve come to the conclusion that not sucking is more likely the path of least resistance towards blog monetization nirvana, Inkthinker Kristen King’s It’s Not You, It’s Me(me): 9 Tips for Making Your Blog Suck is an excellent place to start.
