Free Kindle eBooks
I’ve had my Kindle for about a couple of months now, and I’ve been reading up a storm with it. Now guess how much money I’ve spent on ebooks for it to date.
Yup, $0. The post title kinda took the mystery out of that.
But maybe you won’t know the answer to this one: Where do I get all the free ebooks from?
This may be a surprise for some of you: I get them from Amazon itself.
The freebies aren’t even just “samples” or the looking-for-a-break works of unpublished authors — these are the full-length Kindle versions of books in print and out in the marketplace. Nor are they limited in any way.
Digitally-speaking, they’re as free as free can be.

You don’t even have to jump through hoops to find them. Just go to the Amazon Kindle Store. Scroll down a bit to see the list of Kindle bestsellers, which is updated hourly and appears on the right of the screen. And there they are, the ones with the $0.00 price tag.
As of this writing, among the top 10 bestsellers, nine cost absolutely nothing. There are lots more if you click and proceed to the rest of its bestseller list.
TIP: If you see something for free that you want, get it now. Don’t procrastinate. What’s free today may not be so next week. If you do “purchase” a $0.00 title today, however, it’s yours, even if goes back to regular price whenever.
Here’s another thing I was thinking about: Maybe you can get these freebies even if you don’t have a Kindle. I haven’t tried or tested this myself, but I suspect it may work.
Earlier this month I posted something about Amazon releasing Kindle for PC software which lets you read Kindle ebooks on your PC. If you have an Amazon customer account (which you’ll need, even if “buying” the $0.00 ebooks), maybe it’ll let you “purchase” the freebies I mentioned. Worth a shot.
Here’s the link to the Amazon Kindle Store again. Enjoy!

Nice tip, however, it does not work for Kindle users from overseas … Due to copyright restrictions, the Kindle title you’re trying to purchase is not available in your country (Germany).

I was just reading that if you manage to associate your Amazon account with a US address (or create a totally new one just for this purpose), this may work. Since I’m in the US I can’t really test this, but worth a shot maybe.

i have looked at the amazon site and a few others but there dont seem to be any new books to look at. can any of you recomend a site were theres a wide variaty of some newer books?
This is a really good tip! Ebooks tend to be cheaper than printed books anyway, but why not take advantage of the free ones. Grab a few free bestsellers, and you will have the cost of your Kindle covered in no time.
