Freelance Tip: Check Jobs Multiple Times Each Weekday

Written on November 26, 2007 – 6:34 pm | by Wordpreneur |

Once you’ve settled on which job boards you’ll be visiting regularly, here’s what I suggest you should try to do to maximize your chances of landing good assignments:

Check each job board multiple times each day.

Consider it a newfangled Internet benefit that you can do this now, something we definitely would not have had available to us way back when.

The thing is, many (most?) employers don’t just go for best… they go for best among the earlies. I don’t care if they’ve posted an honest-to-goodness deadline, go get your query/application in as early as possible.

Oh, more than few will indeed evaluate all comers within their stated timeframes and choose who they feel is best… you’ll no doubt have a chance for those even if you get your query/app in at the last second. But get your name in the hat early as I suggest and have a chance at all of them.

Your call.

Like this post? Maybe you'd like to buy me a cuppa joe! It'll help keep me awake to write more, of course. Thanks!
