There’s Gold in Comments

Written on October 22, 2007 – 9:43 pm | by Wordpreneur |

My friend William Bontrager reminded me of a couple of things in his unsolicited comment on the latest Wordpreneur Carnival edition. The first, of course, is the tip on ways to freshen up possibly stale AdSense advertising.

The second? That you’ll often find really good and useful tips and information in a blog post’s comments, not just the post itself.

This is for those of you who tend to just read blog posts, ignoring the area (usually at the bottom) where readers leave comments… and where post authors (and others) reply: You may be missing a heck of a whole lot forsaking the comments area.

Not that I spend a lot of time perusing comments on the blogs I frequent. But I’ve developed the habit of doing quick scans through them, and maybe you should too; believe me, after a while, you’ll tend to develop a “feel” and be able to quickly zero in on the juicy stuff amid the gray.

It does take practice. But thankfully, not a heck of a whole lot. Just start doing it!

Like this post? Maybe you'd like to buy me a cuppa joe! It'll help keep me awake to write more, of course. Thanks!
