Go Trolling for Clients on Free Article Sites
Besides free content and article/ebook ideas, free article repositories like EzineArticles.com can serve wordpreneurs another way: as a source of potential clients.
For editing services, specifically. It’s not like all those articles are well-written. (In fact, I’d say that most could benefit from at least a bit of work, but what else is new).
Pick a particularly bad one, proof/edit it and show it to prospects as a “before and after” example of what you can do for them.
You could even try getting the original author to buy your “after” work. In that situation, I’d probably just show partial work, the rest delivered after full payment.
Why troll for “editing,” not “ghost writing,” gigs? Easier sell, and the work itself’s easier too, in my opinion. Besides, think about it, who says you can’t work these new business relationships into ghost and other writing assignments down the road?
