Freelancing Cost of Doing Business

Written on September 24, 2007 – 5:04 pm | by Wordpreneur |

A couple interesting “facts” about a freelancer’s cost of doing business, from my who-knows-how-old-but-still-good-today notes.

One, consider that on average, half of a freelancer’s income goes to overhead and direct expenditures. In other words, money going out.

And two, also plan that a quarter of your total available time will be spent on and devoted to overhead tasks and activities. Phone, admin, bookkeeping and accounting, etc…. what I call the boring stuff.

These are very important to keep in mind once you start fiddling around with and selecting a formula for setting your fees as a freelancer. Very important.

 Stay tuned.
