Wordsmith Jobs Among Top 50 in America

Written on November 5, 2006 – 9:12 am | by Wordpreneur |

Our “field” did quite respectably in CNNMoney.com’s Top 50 Best Jobs in America. Three in the top 50 to be exact:

  1. Technical Writer — 23.22% $57,841
  2. Editor — 14.77% $78,242
  3. Writer — 17.72% $60,519

The $ figure is average annual pay (salary + bonus), and the % is job growth (10-year forecast). Yayyy wordsmiths!

The count would be even slightly larger if we threw in a couple of jobs that rely heavily on writing skills, such as Curriculum Developer in 18th place (see Teachers and Trainers – Authors/Developers Wanted posting in our Markets section) and Public Relations Specialist in 20th.

On an aside, they didn’t make the Top 50, but did you know Astronomers make $104K a year? The scientists, not the Zodiac-heads.

Like this post? Maybe you'd like to buy me a cuppa joe! It'll help keep me awake to write more, of course. Thanks!
